Letter # 65

August 6, 1945

Dear Mom,
My letters are going to come a little slow now because I'm not doing any flying now. I haven't flown in the past three weeks and I probably won't fly for two or three more weeks. At the present time I'm doing nothing but sitting around and reading and playing cards.

From the looks of things I won't be able to finish up until September which will delay my homecoming until November or December. That will give me one year overseas.

In your letter of July 27th you state that my bank balance is $2419.11.

I assume that the extra $11.52 is interest. I figure my checking balance is $228.31. Please advise me if that is correct.

So Jerry is with a Signal Corps outfit again. I'll write him and I hope it reaches him without too much delay. I also owe Ben a letter along with about a dozen other people. Since it's raining today I'll try to catch up on a lot of unanswered correspondence.

I sent a package home with some clothing and souvenirs. Please have the clothing cleaned and put away. You'll notice that my summer blouse is torn on one shoulder. The missing material fed one rat for about a week.

That's about all I have to say for the present so I'll say s'long.

My regards to all

Love Avy
