Letter # 60

June 21, 1945

Dear Mom,
I received your letter of June 7th yesterday and since there is no mission today, I decided to answer it. I was very much surprised to hear that Abbie Willner got married. I wonder how he intends to support her. That question is about the only thing that kept me from getting married.

I now have 35 missions for a total of 294:20 combat hours or 76.9 points. I've passed the 3/4 mark and it won't be long now. I hope to finish up flying by the end of August.

We've been having some good weather lately and I'm playing ball again. For about two weeks while our club was under construction, nobody was out playing ball. Now that everything is finished and the weather has cleared up, we've started in again. I'm starting to get back some of that sun tan I lost.

There's a chance that I may stay over for my captaincy. If I stayed over a little longer I'd be able to save a lot of money. I've saved about $1200.00 in the past seven months and could save even more with a higher rank. If I stayed over I wouldn't fly much more that 100 points. I wouldn't have to fly much while waiting for my captaincy and after I receive it. So far this is all hypothetical and there hasn't been any decision made. I'll let you know just what happens.

That's about all I have to say for the present so I'll say goodbye. In the meantime don't send anymore packages.

My regards to all

Love Avy
