Letter # 57

June 10, 1945

Dear Mom,
I received your letters of May 27th and 29th this week and one package of magazines containing seven Colliers and two Cosmopolitans. I'm glad you sent me those Colliers in consecutive issues because I can read the serial stories.

My promotion finally came through and was dated May 15th. I was a 2nd Lt. for 27 months which is quite a long time no matter how you look at it. So far I haven't taken over the job of squadron bombardier but expect to in the next few days. That job involves some paper work and attending meetings. The holder is in charge of all the bombardiers in the squadron.

This has been a rotten week. It's rained and rained and rained some more all week. My clothes have been soaked and I've been soaked many times. I don't think I have spent a more miserable week except on our previous base in the Philippines. Were building an officer's club at the present time and our opening is on the night of your birthday. We're planning on having a dance and so far everything looks OK. We're getting dates with nurses from neighboring hospitals and plan on having a big time.

You can stop sending me packages at the end of this month. They take two to three months to arrive and I don't expect to be here at that time. Your packages have been coming thru very nicely. I hope been sending me any more film because my camera broke down and I have to find someone with the right size camera to use up what I have in stock at the present time.

That's about all I have to say for the present so I'll say s'long.

My regards to all

Love Avy
