Letter # 49

May 11, 1945

Dear Mom,
Received your letters of April 25th and 27th and since it is raining this afternoon, I decided to answer them.

Yesterday I flew my 26th mission which brigs me up to 217:45 hours. From now on I'm going to be a lead bombardier and eventually I may get to be squadron bombardier. I figure about 22 more missions should finish me up.

The weather is beginning to get bad with frequent rains. I seems to rain every afternoon now for a few minutes. The rainy season well set in pretty soon and we start counting on some mud. I hope it won't be like our last base but who can tell?

I'm still getting plenty of sunshine and plenty of exercise playing ball. It helps pass the time away and is quite enjoyable.

Now that the European war is over I'm hoping that Jerry will be able to come home for awhile or for good. If he's to be sent over here I'm pretty sure he'll get a furlough before transferring. I'd rather he was home so I'd have one less worry.

That's about all I have to say for the present so I'll say s'long.

My regards to all

Love Avy
