Letter # 43

April 16, 1945

Dear Mom,
Received your letter of April 4th two days ago and it only took ten days to get here. Maybe the mail situation is improving.

There isn't much I can write about the missions I go on and all I can say is that I did go on one. Yesterday I completed my twentieth mission which gives now me a total of 167:40 hours. This is the third time I have flown this month and I hope to fly two more times. Every mission I complete brings me that much closer to going home which is my ultimate objective.

We have a pretty nice mess hall now and have Filipinos waiting on us. I eat enough and you can always be sure that I'm not starving. I get out in the sun during the day and have a pretty nice sun tan.

The weather has been perfect here with the exception of one day of rain. It rained fir about an hour combined with a pretty strong wind so it was fairly uncomfortable.

Aside from that one day I have no complaints. I've even become used to the fact that I'm in the Philippines. It took me a while to realize that I'm so far from home.

I've been receiving mail from Ben and Jerry pretty regularly now and am answering them promptly. I'm waiting to get a new address from Ben so I can answer three of his letters to me.

I have a few more letters to write this morning so I'll say s'long.

My regards to all

Love Avy
